If you are running a promotion in your WooCommerce store, you should be taking advantage of the WooCommerce default coupon system. This coupon system in WooCommerce allows you to easily create coupon codes and give away to your shoppers who are eligible. The shoppers will then be able to redeem the coupon code the next time they purchase something from your store.
Here I will show you how to enable the coupon system in WooCommerce, how to create a coupon code, and how to give away the coupon code.
How to enable coupon system in WooCommerce
To begin accepting coupons in your WooCommerce store, you will first need to enable the coupon system. By default, the coupon system is turned off.
To enable the coupon system head over to the WooCommerce Settings screen.
Under the General tab, scroll a little down till you see the General options section. Here, check the Enable coupons option.
And save the changes.
As simple as that, your WooCommerce store is now capable of accepting coupon codes.
If you head over to the Cart page, you will see Apply coupon code field added.
This coupon code field can also be found at the very top of the Checkout page.
How to create a coupon code
To create your first coupon code, head over to WooCommerce > Coupons.
Next, click on the Create your first coupon button.
And you will be able to add all your coupon details such as the coupon code, description of the coupon, and also define the discount type and the restrictions the coupon code carries.
How to give away the coupon code
In my opinion, there are many ways to give away the coupon code which you have created.
You can give it away to the regular shoppers in your store so that they buy more stuff. For example, you can include the coupon code in an email and send it to them.
You can collaborate with an influencer and get them to market the coupon code for you.
You can display the coupon code on your WooCommerce store in the form of a popup or an info bar at the top of the store for all the shoppers to see.
Or you can even advertise the coupon code using online advertising platforms such as Google AdWords and Facebook Ads.
