Do you want to add social sharing buttons in all of the product page in your WooCommerce store? If you do, I will show you how to do it using a free WordPress plugin.
Before I proceed with the tutorial, here are some reasons on why you should add social sharing buttons in all of the product pages in case you have doubts about it.
That said, let’s proceed with the tutorial.
For this tutorial, I am going to use the free WordPress plugin called Social Pug. This plugin is one of the best social sharing plugins out there and it works very well with WooCommerce.
To begin, install and activate the plugin in WordPress.
After activating it, head over to the Inline Content section of the plugin.
Here’s where you configure the sharing buttons which will be displayed on the product page. You can choose which social platform buttons you want to display, you can arrange the order of the buttons via drag and drop method, you can edit the label of the buttons, customize the display settings (such as buttons shape, buttons position, etc).
One thing which you should be warned is that this plugin only offers four of the major social media sharing buttons; Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. Other than that, it offers Email and Print buttons. That’s it. If you think your store needs more buttons, this is not the plugin for you. Check out my list of the best social sharing plugins for an alternative which offers more buttons.
What’s important here is the Post Type Display Settings which is located right at the bottom of the section. You will need to check the Product option and have the others unchecked.
Doing so, the sharing buttons will appear in all of the product pages.
Here’s an example on how the sharing buttons will appear on the product page if you position the buttons above the content.
And here’s how it will appear if the buttons are positioned below the content.
One of the reasons I chose this plugin is because the sharing buttons appear neatly on the product page. Another reason is that it appears within the product title and the add to cart button.
There are social sharing plugins out there which I have tested and find out that the sharing buttons appear below the Category and Tag.
There is nothing wrong for the buttons to appear at that particular location, however, it just seems out of place.
Coming back to the Social Pug plugin tutorial, the plugin also adds the sharing buttons in the Description tab of the product page.
Here’s how it looks like in mobile device:
And that’s basically how you add social sharing buttons for the products in your WooCommerce store.
On the other hand, if you prefer floating/sticky buttons, this plugin is fit for the job too.
Simply head over to the Floating Sidebar section of the plugin to begin configuration. Btw, I advise you to not have both the floating and inline buttons enabled on the product page at the same time as it will look odd to have too many sharing buttons laying around.
For the configuration of the floating buttons, it’s very similar to the way the inline content configuration is done. The only difference is that you will need to choose whether you want the buttons to float on the right or the left hand side of the screen.
Here’s an example on how it appears on the right hand side of the screen:
And here’s how it appears on the left hand side:
Finally, here’s how it appears on mobile device:
That’s all for this tutorial. Let me know if you have any questions in the comment box below.
