How to Edit the Title and Tagline in WordPress

WordPress title and tagline are something which you should pay attention to right at the beginning stages of setting up your WordPress website or blog. This is because both the title and tagline will be reflected in search engine results page. On top of that, it is part of how you package your WordPress website or blog.

So, not only you should get the title and tagline right, but you should also know how to edit it.

Before I show you how to edit it, let me elaborate a little more on what WordPress title and tagline are all about.

What is WordPress title

WordPress title is the title of the WordPress website or blog. For example, a book has a title. Similar to a book, a website or blog has a title too. In most cases, the title of a website or a blog is set based on the domain name. For example, if the domain name is supermariobros.io, then the title is Super Mario Bros.

This title will appear on the browser tab and also in search engine results page.

What is WordPress tagline

WordPress tagline on the other hand is the motto or slogan of the website or blog. This tagline will appear along with the title. For example, TechCrunch has a tagline that says Startup and Technology News.

The tagline will appear on the browser tab and as well as the search engine results page.

Having a tagline for a WordPress website or blog is optional.

How to edit WordPress title and tagline

There are two ways to edit WordPress title and tagline. I will show you both of the ways.

The first way is editing it through the WordPress General Settings area.

Edit the title and tagline and save the changes.

The second way is editing it through WordPress Customizer. Under Site Identity.
