In the recent WordPress 4.9.6 update, there is a new gallery widget added which allows users to easily create a gallery and add it to the sidebar area.
In this tutorial, we will show you how to configure this widget.
Step 1: Head over to the Widgets area
Hover your cursor on Appearance and click on Widgets.
Then, locate the widget that says Gallery and drag and drop it to your active sidebar.
Step 2: Create the gallery
Once you have added the widget to the sidebar, enter a title for the gallery and followed by clicking on the Add Images button.
Then, begin uploading image to the gallery or you can select images from your WordPress media library. Once you are done, click the button that says Create a new gallery.
After that, you are able to adjust the way the image gallery appear on your sidebar. For example, you can set the number of columns, the URL where the images will be linked to when it’s clicked, the order on how the images appear and the size. Here’s an example on how we set ours:
Once you are done too, click on the button that says Insert gallery.
And finally, click Save.
Head over to your WordPress site where the active sidebar is and you will see the gallery. Here’s an example on how ours looks like:
