The display of the Shop Page in a WooCommerce store not only can be customized, but it can also be sorted.
Before I show you how the display can be sorted, here’s the tutorial on how to customize the display of the Shop Page.
Now that is out of the way, we can proceed with the sorting tutorial.
To begin, head over to the All Products section in the WordPress dashboard.
Here you will see a list of all the products which you have added. Here’s an example:
The products are sorted based on the date. The latest at the top and the oldest at the bottom. However, these are not the actual sorting on the Shop page. The products on the Shop page are sorted by Default sorting (custom ordering + name).
Default sorting is basically custom sorting + alphabetical order. Custom sorting is something which you are about to learn in a bit. And alphabetical order is basically products sorted in alphabetical order. If you did not custom sort the products, the products will be displayed in alphabetical order.
The right question for you to ask here is how to custom sort the products on the Shop page.
To custom sort the products, click on the Sorting option in the All Products section.
Then, drag and drop the products to sort it the way you want it to be.
The product which you place at the top will be the first product appearing from the left and followed by the other products.
Do take note that sorting the products here will also take effect in the product category page. But it will not take effect in the product search results page.
