The Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a unique feature known as Always-On Display. Turning on this feature will allow your Samsung Galaxy S8 to display the time, date and battery status all the time even when your Galaxy S8’s screen is locked or in sleep mode. And you can also configure it to display other than the time, date and battery status; for instance, social media notifications, music controls, etc.

As you can see from the image above, the always-on display features the time, date, battery, Facebook notification, Snapchat notification, email notification and more.
Does this feature consumes battery
Yes. But due to the fact that the black pixels, colours, sensors and processors are all turned off when the always-on display is on, the battery consumption is minimal.
How to set this feature up
Head over to your Galaxy S8’s Settings screen and search for always on display in the search section.
Then, toggle it to ON. And also make sure the Show always is also toggled to ON.
Next, select a clock styles or information to show on the standby screen. And if you would like to add more content to be displayed on the always-on display screen, tap on the option that says Content to show and start adding.
